Torchy's Tacos

I think I'm in love... with Torchy's Tacos
We hit up the one off Shepard and man, oh man, was it delicious. Parking was a bit tight, but by the second go round through the lot we found a spot.
For starters we had chips and salsa, which immediately stole my heart. The chips are homemade and the salsa was not too spicy, but not too bland, just right. The taco I had was the Fried Avocado, which is battered, served on a flour tortilla (my choice) with refried beans, pico, lettuce and cheese. I chose a Coca-Cola in a glass bottle for my drink, because everyone knows they taste way better like that than in a can. The hubby had the Crossroads, which was smoked beef brisket with grilled onions, jalapeƱos, cilantro, avocado and jack cheese topped with tomatillo sauce on a flour tortilla (his choice) and one of the beers on tap. Beau man ate pretty much anything he could get his hands on, as well as do a little dancing.

This is a screen shot of the video since Blogger won't let me upload it because of his mad dancing skills.

We sat on the patio, at a picnic table, under a shade. The breeze was just right, and the music volume was perfect. Our total bill was around $21, which is totally awesome.
I give this place 10 out of 10 stars. In fact, I think I will go there tomorrow, for breakfast... and lunch... and dinner. Don't judge me.

Good Dog

Last night we ate at Good Dog Houston, a local hot dog joint off Studemont in the Heights. My husband had the Curryous Frank (6 inch dog with curried onion
relish, hence the name, as well as cilantro chutney, sweet potato crisps, sriracha ketchup and garlic aioli). I had the Chillin' Dog, which was beef and chorizo chili, diced onions and a cheesy sauce topped on to a 6 inch dog, no jalapeƱos (I'm a wimp) and no mustard. They were served on a buttery pillow of bread. Bryan gave his a 6 out of 10 stars, mine was more at a 5. Beau, of course, had the Fresh Cut Fries, and they got 9 stars. We sat outside in the back. The weather was perfect for this, and the mature trees around gave good shade. The crowd varied from singles to families with babies and fur babies. All in all it seemed like a chill place to grab a beer and a dog. We will go again when Beau is older and can sit at a picnic table.
